Larry Steeb MoC Brings Strong Competition For Dexter Track & Field

Dexter hosted its annual Larry Steeb Meet of Champions meet on Tuesday with athletes from 43 different schools represented in the pre-state championship competition. No team scores were kept, and the highly competitive fields had some of the top Track & Field athletes from Southeastern Michigan competing.

Starting with the track, Coen Hill was 6th in the 1600m run with a time of 4:31.20, and Nick Reiser was 3rd in the Freshman 1600m run, clocking 4:57.25. The 4x200m Relay with Noah DePestel, Connor Kril, Dylan Darby and Josh Graybill finished 8th, with their time of 1:32.03, and the 4x400m Relay finished 5th with Liam Smith, Brock Wineman, Owen Waters and Gavin Heichel running 3:36.54. 


The boys 4x800m Relay finished in first place with Nick Reiser, Triston Thompson, Scott Smith, and Ruaraidh Imfeld had the fastest time of the race with 8:24.94.


In the Discus, Robert Karageorge was the winner with a throw of 153’ 2”, and Cameron Clark was 3rd throwing 147’ 5”. Clark also placed in the Shot Put tossing a 48’ 0.75”, finishing in 5th place. High Jumpers Kyle Gerharter and Gavin Heichel placed for the Dreadnaughts. Gerharter was the champion of the event, clearing 6’ 0”, and Heichel finishing in 8th with 5’ 10”.


Claire Steinbrecher placed in the 800m run, finishing in 8th with a time of 2:20.90, and Lily Mitchell was 7th in the 1600m with her time of 5:15.49. Claire Collins, running a 5:57.48, finished 8th in the Freshman 1600m run.


Three relay teams placed for the Lady Dreads, starting with a 7th place finish in the 4x100m with Halle Perkins, Maddy Church, Vivian Schoen and Molly Salisbury running 52.39. The 4x400m with Amelia Cribbins, Lillian Mitchell, Vivian Hoffman, and  Claire Steinbrecher took 3rd with a time of 4:11.84, and the 4x800m with Hannah Sisson, Avery Hoeft, Claire Gibson, and Addison Streetman finished 6th with their time of 10:46.89.


Pole Vaulters Raiden Kipfmiller and Debbie McCoy with 2-3 for Dexter with both of them clearing 11’ 6”, with Kipfmiller ahead on misses. And Kera Root finished in 6th in the Shot Put with a throw of 33’ 0”.
