Dreadnaughts Open Season at Lincoln Spring Indoor Classic

The Dexter Track & Field team opened its season at Ypsilanti Lincoln for the Lincoln spring indoor classic. The 11 school meet featured an opportunity for competitors to get a competition under their belt before spring break began. The boys squad finished the day in 6th place, while the girls took home a 3rd place trophy.

Beginning with mid distance and distance races on the track for the boys, Dexter placed two runners in the 800m run. Scott Smith finished 5th with a time of 2:08.35, and Landon Whitehead was 7th at 2:12.94. The 1600m saw Nick Reiser place 3rd with a time of 5:02.24, and teammate Aidan Petik finished the race in 6th with a 5:05.58 time. Dexter had two more placers in the 3200 with a first place finish for Coen Hill, beating all runners with a time of 10:00.90, and Oliver Vaudt finishing in 7th with his time of 11:48.18.
Boys relays also were quite competitive beginning with Dexter’s 4x200m relay. The team of Owen Waters, Dylan Darby, Connor Kril, and Mitchell Ward finished the event in 4th with a time of 1:37.01. Oliver Vaudt, Easton Howell, John Preuss, and Ewan Imfeld were the 4x800m relay team for the Dreads finishing in 7th with their time of 9:49.05. Finally the 4x400 relay with Burke Smith, Triston Thompson, Hudson Sutter, Bryce Bales took the 8th spot with a finish of 4:05.67.
The field events saw scoring as well starting with the boys High Jump. Kyle Gerharter was runner up clearing 5’10” while Will Weiszhaar was 8th at 5’4”. Pole Vaulter Anthony Delarca-Hernandez cleared 11’6” to finish the competition with a 5th place finish.
On the girls side, the lady Dreadnaughts saw scoring in all of the field events. Leading off with the Shot Put, Jizzelle Spence opened the season with a throw of 26’4” which was good for 8th place, and Ainsley Davis’s leap of 15' 10” out jumped all but one competitor in the Long Jump and finished in 2nd. Davis wasn’t finished, as she was the top High Jumper for Dexter, clearing the bar at 4 '8”, and finished in 4th. Her teammate, Larkin Pham also placed in the High Jump going 4’4” and finishing in 7th. Dexter Pole Vaulters Raiden Kipfmiller, and Debbie McCoy went 1-2, with Kipfmiller clearing 12’6”, and McCoy right behind at 11' 0”.
Dexter sprinters were represented, starting with Molly Salisbury taking 4th place in the 60m with a time of 8.62 seconds, while Dexter placed two athletes in the 400m. Lillian Mitchell and Claire Steinbrecher placed 6th and 7th, with times of 1:04.01 and 1:04.43 respectively. Hurdler Sarah Murillo, was also in the mix for scoring, running the 60m hurdles with a time of 11.73, and taking a 4th place finish.
Distance girls grabbed points starting with the 800m run. Abigail Dorby ran her race finishing in 3rd with a clocking of 2:43.62, and Avery Hoeft was 5th in the 1600m, crossing the line with a time of 6:03.18. And in the 3200m, Dexters’ Annabel O’Haver and Hannah Sisson finished their race in the 3-4 positions. O’Haver at 12:27.31, and Sisson with 12:37.59.
In the 4x200m relay, Larkin Pham, Halle Perkins, Raiden Kipfmiller, Maddy Church finished in 5th with a time of 1:57.70, and the 4x800 team was 3rd. Claire Gibson, Avery Hoeft, Annabel O’Haver, and Lillian Mitchell crossed the line at 10:18.73. Also finishing in 3rd was the girls 4x400m. The team of Mitchell, Gibson, Claire Steinbrecher, Aubrey Greuling finished their race with 4:29.17.
