Dexter Played Host to Saline, Ypsilanti Lincoln

Dexter hosted Saline, and Ypsilanti Lincoln on Tuesday at Al Ritt under cloudy, and breezy skies. Wind chill temperatures dipped down into the upper 30’s but the Dreadnaughts gave it their all. The boys lost to both Saline, 94-43, and Lincoln 74-59, while on the girls side they split, beating Lincoln 90-47, but falling to Saline 90.5-46.5.


Boys field events led off with Cameron Clark taking 3rd in the Shot Put, throwing 40’ 11”, while in the Discus Robert Karageorge was 2nd with 134’ 3” and Jacob Alvarado 3rd at 114’ 1”. In the jumps, Kyle Gerharter placed 1st in the High Jump, going 5’ 10”, and Clark Sheldon took 2nd in the Pole Vault clearing the bar at 13’ 9”.


On the Track, it was mainly the distance races that scored points for the Dreadnaughts, starting off with Brandon Anderson taking 2nd in the 800m with a time of 1:57.21. Vaughn Meyer’s time of 4:29.14 was good enough to take 2nd place in the 1600m while it was a clean sweep in the 3200m. Caleb Snyder led all runners, winning the race with a time of 10:08.85, followed by Julian Linebaugh for 2nd with 10:23.59, and rounding out the field in 3rd was Sam Gibson finishing at 10:28.96.

The other top placer for the boys was the 4x800m relay with Anderson, Linebaugh, Meyer and Snyder the winning team, breaking the tape at 8:14.60.


Out in the throws for the Lady Dreads Kera Root was the top thrower winning the Discus with her best toss going 110’ 0”, and taking 3rd in the Shot Put with a throw of 32’ 2”. Her teammate Lily Burns finished one spot higher than her, taking 2nd place in the Shot Put with a throw of 32’ 11.5”. Over at the Pole Vault, Debbie McCoy won with a jump of 9’ 3”, and Madelyn Simons tied for 3rd at 7’ 9”. Simone Kasischke was 2nd in the High Jump clearing 4’ 8”.


In the 100 Hurdles, Raiden Kipfmiller ran a time of 18.57 for the 2nd fastest time in the race, and Lillian Mitchell ended up 3rd in two races. She ran a 2:27.31 in the 800m, followed by a 5:29.39 in the 1600m. Like in the boys race, Dexter 3200m runners took all 3 spots to sweep that event. Kate Varitek’s time of 11:52.32 led all runners taking the top spot, followed by Kodie Snyder in 2nd at 12:04.24, and Annabel O’Haver for 3rd at 12:17.76.


Next up for Dexter, they will travel to Ann Arbor this Tuesday to take on Monroe, and Ann Arbor Huron.
