Dexter Hosts April Showers Invitational, Kipfmiller Qualifies For State Championship

Dexter hosted their annual April Showers Invitational on Saturday at Al Ritt Stadium. While the shower part stayed away, the team still dealt with the sporadic Michigan spring weather and competed on a windy and cold day. No team score was kept, and while the weather was less than optimal, the Track & Field team had several outstanding performances.

Starting in the field events, the Pole Vaulter girls had a very strong showing with Raiden Kipfmiller winning and hitting the State Championship qualifying mark of 11’ 6”, followed by Debbie McCoy 2nd at 10’ 3” and Tylee Jensen 3rd at 8’ 9”. Madelyn Simons was 6th at 8’ 3”, and Allie McKaig was 7th at 8’ 3”. Dexter thrower Kera Root was 7th in the Shot Put throwing 28’ 9.5” and 3rd in the Discus throwing 88’ 10”.
On the track for the girls, in the Freshman 100, Vivian Schoen was 3rd with a time of 13.82. Raiden Kipfmiller was 7th in the 200m, running 27.67. The 400m had Claire Gibson in 3rd running 1:05.19, and Amelia Cribbins in 6th at 1:06.13. Two Dexter Hurdlers placed in the 100m Hurdles. Giuliana Biundo, and Schoen went 5-6 with times of 18.25 and 18.94.
In the longer distances, beginning with the 800m, Lillian Mitchell was 8th at 2:25.65, the Freshman 1600 placed Claire Collins 2nd at 6:26.93, and Romy Pintar was 3rd at 6:39.40. Avery Hoeft was 8th in the 3200m run finishing the day running 12:26.80. Dexter won the 4x800m relay with Kodie Snyder, Amelia Cribbins, Mitchell, and Annabel O”Haver crossing the line at 10:14.49.

Going back on the track for the boys team, the Dread sprinters placed 3 in the 100m dash with Josh Graybill 4th running 11.66, Connor Kril was 5th just a half step behind at 11.67, and Mitchell Ward was 7th at 11.84. Pearson Taylor was 5th in the Freshman 100m with his time of 12.12. Dylan Darby was 8th in the 200m running 24.27, and Liam Smith was 6th in the 400m, running 54.80.
The distance races saw a lot of Dreadnaughts finish in the top 8. In the 1600m, Julian Linebaugh was 3rd at 4:43.04, and Nick Martens was 7th at 4:52.00. In the Freshman 1600 Owen Healy won, running 5:07.50, Oliver Vaudt was 4th at 4:52.00, and 5th was Easton Howell crossing the finish line at 5:15.00. Coen Hill was the runner-up in the 3200m at 9:41.04, and Caleb Snyder was 6th at 9:58.22.
Dylan Darby, Connor Kril, Noah Boyce, and Josh Graybill ran the 4x100 and took 5th running 46.76, and Mitchell Ward, Kril, Darby, and Graybill were the 4x200m relay team finishing 2nd at 1:32.73.
The 4x400m relay team of Liam Smith, Cole Doty, Brock Wineman, and Jake Fischer finished 6th at 3:46.92, and Scott Smith, Nick Reiser, Nick Hoffman, and Ruaraidh Imfeld were the runner-up team in the 4x800m relay with their time of 8:50.85.
Dexter throwers placed 3 in the Shot Put starting with Cameron Clark taking 3rd at 47’ 0.5”, Colin McIntyre 5th at 43’ 5” and Robert Karageorge was 6th at 43’ 4.25”. Karageorge was 3rd in the Discus at 132’ 5”, Clark was 5th at 122’ 6”, and Jacob Alvarado was 7th at 115’ 7”.
Kyle Gerharter, and Gavin Heichel were 2nd and 3rd in the High Jump going 5’ 10” and 5’ 8” respectively, while Will Weiszhaar finished tied for 7th at 5’ 2”. Alex Trisdale was 7th in the Pole Vault at 10’ 3”, and Owen Sorter was 8th in the Long Jump at 17’ 4.5”.
Dexter will host Ann Arbor Huron and Monroe at At Ritt on Tuesday.
